“Different Places” Student Reading

The literary and spiritual worlds will come together on Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, when Ananda College Students will present “Different Places: An Evening of Words” at the college campus Meditation Retreat temple.
Ananda College students Kevin Davis, Ryan Nakade, Bardia Behmard and Samuel Pritchard will read selected essays, narrative non-fiction, travelogue and poetry from their writings, which they have composed during the Fall term. In addition, Samuel Pritchard will join seniors Chitra Sudhakaran and Anna Preston with an installment of original paintings and photography to add to the event.
Creative writing instructor Bob Yehling and Dean of Admissions Dr. Nefretete Rasheed will serve as co-masters of ceremonies, and will also read one poem each from their respective collections.
The reading will begin at 7:00 p.m., followed by special entertainment. Dinner in the readers’ honor will be served at 6:00 p.m. (advanced reservations by Dec. 7th required for $15 dinner). The reading is free to the public, donations gladly accepted to help cover expenses.
Ananda College of Living Wisdom Creative Writing Faculty plans to offer its first professional “Writer’s Retreat” in July, 2012. Those interested in attending the 3-5 day event can contact Dr. Nefretete Rasheed for more information.
