Holistic Health & Healing explores, in theory and practice, a comprehensive approach to alternative and complimentary healing modalities for body and mind. The purpose of this area of focus is to train health practitioners and other students to work in their chosen professions with deeper awareness of applications of holistic health and healing principles. The program advisors guide students in selecting a particular practice in the healing arts for further internships and professional development.
Students receive an introduction to some of the most widely used Western and Eastern medical practices including: Ayurveda; Herbology; Nutrition & Diet; Meditation & Yoga; Naturopathic Medicine; Homeopathic Medicine; Energy Medicine; Chiropractic Medicine; Massage; Anthroposophic Medicine; Chinese & Tibeten Medicine; and ‘Tai Chi. Students examine case studies, research, and historical and theoretical foundations.
Other program courses include: Anatomy & Physiology; Holistic Nutrition; Ayurveda & the Mind; Beginning & Intermediate Polarity Therapy; Art & Science of Raja Yoga; Directional Psychology; Physical Education; Advanced Yoga & Ayurveda; Capstone Independent Research; Nutrition & Culinary Arts; Positive Psychology and a Holistic Health & Healing Practicum.
Students work with advisors to create their own unique Practicum, which can be as varied as interning with an Ayurvedic Practitioner to creating a cookbook of healing foods, developing yoga and stress reduction programs for people with special needs, or an independent research project.
